E. NAZARETH – ODEON

This arrangement was commissioned by the Romantic Revival Orchestra, and was premiered on 01/February/2024, at CBSO Centre (Birmingham), conducted by Leo Jaffrey.

Ernesto Nazareth characterizes Odeon as the “Brazilian Tango.” The pronounced swing-like bass line establishes a compelling dance groove, accentuated by syncopated rhythms in the accompanying sections. This orchestration maintains the dance essence, meticulously highlighting each instrumental family independently before seamlessly blending them together, creating a sense of development throughout the arrangement.
