Daniele Rosina – Conductor
As an eclectic composer, arranger-orchestrator, performer, and educator from Brazil living in Birmingham (UK), Vinícius’ artistic concern lies in exploring the nuance of timbre, aleatoricism, and challenging conventional ensemble norms by exploring the independence of performers within a collective or ensemble setting. His music has been promoted to acclaim with performances by esteemed ensembles including the Orchestra of the Swan, Contemporary Music for All, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Symphony Hall (Birmingham), St John’s Smith Square (London), and the CBSO Centre (Birmingham) are some of the prominent venues where his works have been performed.
Furthermore, Vinícius seamlessly integrates his Brazilian heritage into his creative endeavours by infusing his compositions with South American rhythms, Portuguese lyrics, and personal experiences from his time in Brazil. His melodic craftsmanship and lyrical compositions evoke the soulful essence of Brazilian Bossa Nova, characterized by a deliberate fusion of melody and lyrics to achieve a natural and conversational tone. Additionally, his works showcase a rich harmonic palette reminiscent of jazz and Bossa Nova, Japanese video game and chamber music, and French impressionistic music.
Vinícius has worked with a variety of arts events and arts groups within the Birmingham region, performing and playing his pieces at the Birmingham Flatpack Film Festival, Eastside Projects, and Birmingham New Music which he is currently directing. Additionally, he has been greatly involved with the Romantic Revival Orchestra, in arranging music for various concerts in 2024 as well as leading the concert documentation team.
I thoroughly enjoyed the very colourful and imaginative orchestrations; it was hard to believe how much was created in some cases from pieces for just solo guitar.
Tony Bridgewater – Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Association, Chair
In his role as an arranger and orchestrator, he focuses on preserving the essence of the original work. He adds a playful touch to the ensemble and work by passing relevant musical material around everyone, creating dynamic changes in timbre. Performers and the general public often praise his orchestrations for being lively, playful, and organic
He is the founder and principal arranger of Birmingham Game Music Ensemble, conducted by friend and award-winning conductor Tommaso Nista. The ensemble specialises in the performance and recording of video game music arrangements, aiming to foster new audiences at concert halls, by merging the worlds of classical music and video games together.
In 2024, Vinícius was awarded the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Orchestral Composition prize, for his work CRY, which was premiered by Daniele Rosina (conductor) in December 2023. In November 2024, Vinícius was awarded the Musicians’ Company Silver Medal, and he is currently a young artist in their programme.
