About

Zequinha de Abreu’s Tico-Tico no Fubá, originally scored for piano, has undergone many arrangements and orchestrations, extending to diverse ensembles globally, serving as a prominent piece in the realm of Brazilian classical music. This orchestration seamlessly preserves the playful essence of the original work, by constantly creating dynamic changes in timbre, with each instrument fading in and out of the foreground. The focus of this rendition was in creating structured orchestration – the rate in which melodic material is passed around to different instruments is gradually diminished, until the final section, in which the melody is floating around different instruments every bar.
